Blog Hop: Art From the Heart Birthday Weekend

Hi, hi, hi.

Today I'm taking part in a blog hop to celebrate the10th birthday celebration of Art from the Heart.
As well as being the place I got to attend two amazing Dina Wakely workshops, Art from the Heart is actually one of the few remaining independent craft shops in the whole of our region ... and that's definitely something worth celebrating!
If you want to know more about the 'big birthday bash' happening in the actual Art from the Heart store next weekend then visit owner Dyan's blog for the full details. But back to today ...
  • There are 5 separate birthday blog hops happening across the internet themed around brands stocked at Art from the HeartDylusions; Tim Holtz; Ranger; 7Gypsies and ...
  • Stampotique - which I'm a part of!
  • And you should have reached my blog from the Lisa Sparkle And Stamps blog;
  • There are letters to be collected on your way around ... and you can be in with a chance of winning a prize once you've collected them.
-------------------------------------------------
OK then, here's my Stampotique project created especially for today's festivites:
 The layout features my favourite Stampotique stamp ... the adorable [in my eyes!] Heads are peeking out all over:
 I stamped those at the top directly on to the cardstock [Ranger Inkssentials Manila 12x12] with Distress Inks then heat embossed a panel of the little guys down the left side. I then used a paintbrush to swipe and flick Dylusions inks over the top bfore wiping the excess away so the faces re-emerged from the darkness ...
 Here the Heart Shirt chap peers around the corner catching me photographing myself  ... long story. As usual the wording is snipped from an old book:
Here's a little [very little] explanation of what I was doing:
In this page I finally found the ideal use for an old mirrored watch face I bought well over a year ago:
And, last but not least, more wording from an old book and a vintage postage stamp. [You've come to expect nothing less though, haven't you?]
 If you're new here and you missed out on my recent blog series 'Going Postal', check out my sidebar where there's a fully linked list to all the postal-themed posts which included lots of projects and inspiration].

Finally here's a re-cap of the Stampotique stamps I used on my layout:
They're Heads and Kitty by Daniel Torrente and Heart Shirt by Daniel Torrente and Jill Penney
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now here's those prize-winning details you'll need:
  • the letter you need to collect from me is 'N'
  • this is part of an anagram of a Stampotique product;
  • once you've collected all of the letters in the Stampotique hop, you will end back to Dyan's blog;
  • then you need to follow the instructions to email your answer to Art From the Heart's Ben by 6pm Sunday 11th September.

  • Your next stop-on-the-hop is to Gez of Gezzy B's Jots where you can collect your next letter.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'd love it if you took a minute to leave a comment before hopping-on and if you're new here 'Hi' - you're welcome back here any time.

Happy hopping!

See you soon.

Julie :-)

  48. 1. I *love* the way you've used the head stamps (and others) on this.

    2. Have I mentioned how impressed I am that you seem to get so much use out of the stamps you buy? But without them looking samey in any way.

    3. This may be my new favourite Layout de la Kirk.

    4. That cat is hilariously bedraggled-looking, and has made me realise I do have a sort of thing about the pathetic loveableness of wet cats.

LOVE this page though - especially what you did with the heads with the purple! I keep looking at that stamp... you may have persuaded me! (Love Stampotique, making an art doll at mo inspired by one *g* Would that be a copy and paste?)

  68. I can see how much work you've put into this layout, all the layers are fantastic. But Stampotique stamps freak me out. Just saying. Don't ever jump out from behind a cupboard door brandishing a Stampotique stamp, you'll creep me out. Though I guess, to be fair, I should be more freaked out about how you'd got into one of my cupboards...

  70. Stunning!! I'm now on love with that stamp which is strange because I don't like figurative stamps- love how it was used here!! Thanks for the tip- I always forget I can use clear heat embossing to get that fab effect.
