Wholesome weekend activities

Morning all.

I'm going away for a few days which means leaving James to his own devices.

Luckily I have just the thing to keep him out of mischief in the shape of a vintage children's book I found in a Whitby charity shop:

Perhaps this page will come in useful for all those household tasks which need finishing off:
At first I'd planned to cut it up and use it on the badges I sell in my etsy shop ... but I'm not sure I can bear to cut into it now:
And, if after he's finished his puzzles ....
... he begins to miss me a smidge... there's always this little zebra to keep him company [along with the real thing which I've also left at home!]:

I'll see you [and James!] very soon, but now I'm off to catch up with some good friends.

I hope you've got a friend, a James ... or even a zebra to spend your weekend with too. If not, you can share this one: Take care.

  1. I can understand your reluctance as it looks in such perfect condition. Have a great time.

  2. I don't think I could bear to cut it up either. Have a lovely break!

  3. I've got a couple of books that I picked up from my grandparents' farm- one is a 60s book of entertaining and the other is something about agricultural math and planning (hoo! fun!). Neither of which I can cut into now. They just sit on my shelf looking happily retro with all my 60s cookbooks.

  5. I'd be making him photocopy those crossword pages if I were you! And not allowing any puzzle activity until he had prepared something for your return with evidence of those newly acquired woodwork skills. Lovely treasure trove and hope you are having a splendid time somewhere ...

  6. I 'liberated' a book just like this from some stuff that came from my in-law's house, with the intention of usig it for journalling, but I can't bring myself to cut it up either. I have great plans to scan it in and print it like a homemade collage sheet, but as yet it is still sitting on my shelf....

  7. Is James a fighting kind of a chap? Because I'd happily arm-wrestle him for the chance to get my mitts on that little gem. (And, in case you think I'm being mean, please note I opted for 'arm wrestle' over 'duff him up a bit'...)

Not that I think for one minute he isn't the loveliest of chaps - how could he not be? - I just know it would be easier to prise it away from him than from you. HA!
